Job description

The Network Administrator we’re looking for should be overseeing the IT infrastructure. This includes monitoring the core network, server maintenance, trouble shooting and upgrading all aspects of the IT infrastructure in close collaboration with the company’s on-site network specialists.

The Network Administrator will be the brains of the network operation and work closely with our on-site team in Denmark. The role requires a strong communicator and a flexible yet organized candidate. The role is located in our Dubai office.

Responsibilities: 

• Monitoring, maintaining and analyzing core network performance as well as customer performance.
• Second level technical support to our customer support team.
• Troubleshooting and correcting hardware and software issues.
• Team up with and guide our Danish team.
• General network maintenance. E.g., switches, peering, firewall etc.
• Server maintenance (90% Linux, 10% Windows).
• Documenting working methods on the go.
• Take part in our 24/7 standby shift in case of system errors.

Required Skills (need to have):

• Proficient English and able to communicate effectively via Teams.
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations to our switches and routers.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, RIP, IPSEC, HSRP).
• L2 technologies including VLANs, Spanning Tree, Access Control Lists, QoS.
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
• Maximizing solution performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting

• Monitors the utilization and oversees the operation of Network services (Internet, Customer fiber connections, etc.)
• IP network planning (IP addressing and subnetting, Routing concepts)
• BGP Peering administration and enhancements when new peers can improve the experience for our customers or have other benefits for the company
• Participates in developing Network enhancements and expansions strategies and plans and implements these plans in cooperation with the rest of the team.

• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues 
• Creates manuals and support documents
• Deep Wi-Fi knowledge is an advantage but not required.
• Serves as a technical resource for the Network Operations Team to provide solutions to complex hardware and software issues.
• Escalate issues to vendors.

Beneficial Skills (nice to have):

• Handle and administer all our Linux (CentOS) server issues.
• Proven ability to learn, work in self-sufficient manner, problem solve and apply new concepts.
• A well-working acquaintance in the Linux environment
• Deploys new servers (Linux, including preparing templates for fast rollout).
• Monitors servers (via monitoring system and SNMP alerts).
• Proactively maintains and patches servers.
• Configures apache, nginx, MySQL, load balancers, clusters and advanced server configurations.
• Can perform root cause analysis for slow sites (viewing access logs, cache hit rations etc).
• Creates and manages scripts for Linux management.
• Conduct research on emerging hardware/software technologies and products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems procurement and development efforts
• Serve as a subject matter expert to diagnose and resolve hardware/software related issues, coordinating with coworkers and vendors.
