About the client

Our client is providing an advanced transport network for the people of Dubai. They have been high on the government’s agenda, which is evident from its initiatives to enhance the public transport facilities and improve roads across the emirate to make travel safer and smoother. Our client is responsible for planning and providing the requirements of transport, roads & traffic in the United Arab Emirates.

About the position

Initiate strategic infrastructure and services projects and deploy appropriate ‘cutting-edge’ technologies to streamline business and overall public image. Mobilizes initiatives to improve operational efficiency and recommend projects that will help CTSS towards financial self-sustenance.

Key Results Accountabilities

Innovation: Actively monitors, Identifies, and benchmarks new and emerging GIS technologies and assesses their relevance and potential value.
Information Technology Strategy: Contributes to the technology strategy and roadmap formation by providing in-depth analysis of the business continuity, infrastructures, and data centres strategy elements.
Risk Management: Carries out risk assessment within the GIS section, uses consistent processes for identifying potential risk events, quantifying and documenting the probability of occurrence and the impact on the company and coordinates the development of countermeasures and contingency plans.
Service Agreements: Maintains a catalogue of the section’s services and ensures that service delivery meets agreed service levels. Diagnoses service delivery problems and initiates actions to maintain or improve levels of service.
Information Technology Portfolio: Plans and monitors the implementation of the sections portfolio and provides recommendations for changes to the portfolio priorities.
Technology Suppliers: Leads supplier selection, RfP tendering, and procurement of systems. Oversees and measures the fulfillment of suppliers’ contractual obligations during development stages. Uses key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and challenge supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Manage Budgets and Costs: Develops an annual budget and forecasts projection, monitor implementation, evaluate and recommend specific adjustments during the implementation for the project needs.

To perform other responsibilities, tasks as assigned by the Director.
Business Continuity: Develops strategies for managing storage and data based on level of criticality of information. Drafts and maintains policies and standards for the data management practice and align storage investments and data management policies to meet Recovery Point Objective and Recovery Time Objective.
Enterprise Architecture: Contributes to the creation, review, and improvement of the enterprise architecture practices and standards with a focus on IT infrastructure and networks architecture and manages and maintains planning and modelling the evolution of infrastructure architectures in line with the technology strategy. Ensures proactive participation of the section as part of the Corporate Architecture Review Team.
Services Requests and incidents: Is responsible for managing infrastructure support service request and incident fulfilment.
Plans the installation and testing of new versions of system software and end-user peripherals.
Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for infrastructure, and network support and ensures that all requests for support are dealt with according to set standards and procedures.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

7 years of experience as a GIS manager.
Ability to initiate and direct technology projects in support of strategic and operational goals.
Computer-literate performer with extensive software proficiency covering wide variety of applications.
Knowledge in ISO20000 and certification in ITIL.
Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.
Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with customers and colleagues.
Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.
Excellent knowledge of IT system development and project management practices and standards.
