About the Company


Our client is a growing marketing communications consultancy with public relations at its core, but with a wide-ranging portfolio of services that encompass lead generation, content creation and production, media training and messaging workshops, podcast creation and production, social and digital media strategic and tactical services.

What is the role of a Communications Consultant? 


A Communications Consultant is one of the senior contacts for Clients and right-hand person for the Senior Communications Consultant/ Account Director. They are responsible for managing a team to ensure Client campaigns are delivered and service level agreements are met (if not exceeded where possible). Commercially minded and creative in nature, the Communications Consultant is adept at building relationships with key commentators, industry spokespeople and senior journalists. They lead PR (traditional and non-traditional) campaigns and provide counsel to their Clients and management alike.


The Day to Day


  • One of the senior contacts for Clients
  • Manage closely client service levels and agency performance
  • Oversee PR and Integrated Marketing campaigns from brief to implementation and delivery
  • Analyse campaign results and interpreting data – regular proactive reviews & revisit tactics to deliver better results
  • Present findings to management, clients and key stakeholders (along with proof points)
  • Develop current client accounts and create new sources of revenue whilst achieving Clients’ ROI
  • Strategic content creation for Client campaigns – across different forms (traditional content, creative content for SM/digital campaigns and visual)
  • Proactively flag up and suggest recommendations to resolve challenges with Clients/team
  • Develop a wide industry network and nurture key contacts

The Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Clients’ accounts
  • Manage new accounts along with existing ones
  • Oversee media strategy and campaign/account development
  • Achieve excellent results/meet comms objectives for clients’ campaigns and manage an extended portfolio ensuring consistency of service is delivered in line with company policy
  • Always be responsive and approachable internally and externally
  • Champion the agency values and brand
  • Uphold and set an example for Agency policies and procedures
  • Develop senior press relationships and manage contacts with key commentators, industry spokespeople and sector influencers
  • Offer crisis management and counsel to clients
  • Formulate business strategy in conjunction with director/management
  • Create and present proposals/plans to Clients and prospect Clients
  • Create and share with Client regular campaign reviews (quarterly)
  • Track and manage team/client finances and meeting agreed monthly/project deliverables – ensuring we meet deliverables committed within the agreed timeframes.

  • Business acumen with the ability to communicate across departments and represent traditional and non-traditional PR at a senior level within the business
  • Can recognize and integrate different services (Video/podcasts/SM/Lead Generation/Infographics/webinars..) with traditional PR campaigns to achieve the desired results.

The Qualifications


  • Extensive experience in PR & Marketing for B2B Clients – Tech, Security, Finance, Healthcare, Aviation, Oil & Gas sectors
  • A strong industry network and contacts with senior journalists and members of the press
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing Communication campaigns for a wide range of clients
  • Polished presenter and adept at explaining PR/SM/Integrated marketing terms and outcomes to Clients/Industry network/Agency members…
  • Commercial acumen and experience of developing new business – grasp of finances and profitability (productivity as we charge for our time)
  • Management experience of developing star performers and overseeing performance
  • Driven, ambitious and willing to contribute to the business
  • Passionate about Communications and keen to grow and thrive in a supportive Agency environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
