Our Client
Our client is providing an advanced transport network for the people of Dubai. They have been high on the government’s agenda, which is evident from its initiatives to enhance the public transport facilities and improve roads across the emirate to make travel safer and smoother. Our client is responsible for planning and providing the requirements of transport, roads & traffic in the United Arab Emirates. 

Job Purpose
Responsible for all aspects of the design and development and Management of the Traction Power System, including but not limited to managing the Traction Power System, facilitating change, implement plans and procedures at all levels to Traction Power System functions.

Key Results Accountabilities
  • Review the project requirements document and ensure the design basis of project is maintained and/or changes agreed by actively involving other relevant Rail Agency Departments as required in a timely manner.
  • Review, monitor, and follow up the Traction Power supply components, design, Substation construction, equipment implementation, testing and commissioning and its integration with other systems.
  • As regulator, provide review and NO objection of the developers’ rail projects at various phases of the projects.
  • Conduct frequent site visits to ensure work progress is as planned and prepare related reports to line management and Project Managers.
  • Ensuring all relevant drawings, warranties, test certificates are in compliance with contract’s requirements and are handed over in due time at the project handing over phase.
  • Monitor progress and milestone achievements by enquiry, inspection, attendance at meetings and receiving and reviewing reports and ensure proper deliveries of spare parts.
  • Under the direction of Manager, attendance of selected factory acceptance test, to ensure its compliance to the contract requirements and applicable standards.
  • To provide support and assistance to Rail Agency Dept. on issues related to the traction power system and advice to establish strategies related to traction power networks for RTA Rail projects.
  • Assess and recommend innovative solutions and advanced technologies for traction power system and
  • Implement value engineering throughout the project phases.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Provide review and input during project planning and design. This includes setting design criteria and requirements for new projects, and support to prequalification of relevant consultants, Contractors, service provider specialized in traction power supply.
  • Post-contract responsibility in design & review, specification and project management of railway traction power supply, including overhead line and third rail system, earthing system and stray current corrosion control and protection system.
  • Review and monitor continuously the Hazard Log and the risk register and ensure contractor/consultants are implementing all mitigation measures related to traction power systems and report on any deviation.
  • Review and Comment the traction power simulation at different stage of the project.
  • Review strategic policies on traction power systems procurements, implementation and obsolescence managements and set up traction power systems performance KPIs for rail projects under normal and degraded modes of operations.
  • Support section manager and Contract & Purchase team to assess variations, claims and payment certification of works related to Traction Power System.
  • Ensure close coordination with stakeholders and third parties (DEWA, Maintenance, Operation, etc.) on traction power related issues.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and management including lessons learned, technical assessment, support job shadowing and training.
  • Review and monitor the performance of consultant & Engineer in the rail projects and ensure resources adequacy and competencies are provided in timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Power Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects.
  • Innovative problem-solver who can generate workable solutions and resolve complaints.
  • Good knowledge of statistical methods and their applications
  • 8 years of working experience
  • Proven ability to develop quality standards, testing procedures, inspection reporting formats, and ability to conceptualize tasks and accomplish them.
  • Computer-literate performer with extensive software proficiency covering wide variety of applications
  • Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing.
  • Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.
